A portion of the Cannon Valley Trail is open to fat tire bikes during the winter season.
Hiking and Fat Tire Biking:
- Snow Plowed sections: Mile 0 – Mile 1 (Archie Swenson Fields Access in Cannon Falls)
- Snow Plowed section: Mile 17.4 – Mile 19.7 (Old West Main Access in Red Wing)
Cross Country Skiing Only:
- Mile 1 (Archie Swenson Fields Access in Cannon Falls) to Mile 17.4 (Pepin Ave in Red Wing)
Cross Country Skiing and Fat Tire Biking:
- Mile 15.5 (Cannon Bottom Road) – Mile 17.4 (Pepin Ave in Red Wing)
Snowshoeing:
- Snowshoes are welcome to use the entire Cannon Valley Trail. Please stay off the areas tracked and groomed for cross county skiing.
Fat Tire Bike Etiquette:
- Yield: Always yield to skiers, hikers, and snowshoers.
- Tire Pressure: Reduce air pressure to 10 psi when riding on groomed areas to minimize ruts.
- Trail Conditions: Avoid riding on groomed areas if your tires will create ruts deeper than 1 inch.
