Why We Need You
The need for citizen involvement in Cannon Valley Trail didn’t end at the grand opening ceremony in 1986. A regional recreational facility, in an environmentally challenging location, trying to be the best it can be, needs people like you to help solve problems and provide constructive input to the Joint Powers Board.
Did you know that the CVT is not a state trail? That is to say, the CVT is supported by wheel pass fees, the local communities of Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Goodhue County and “Friends of the CVT”
‘Friends of the Trail’ was established by the Trail’s managing Joint Powers Board in 1988. Our mission is to “Support the Joint Powers Board in its management of the Cannon Valley Trail.”
What We Have Done
Members, individually and collectively, have:
- made available talents and funds to achieve trail goals;
- restored trail lands through planting and vegetation management projects;
- created the educational ‘Voices of the Valley’ program;
- tackled special projects such as access development and flood repair; and
- met the numerous challenges that the Trail faces.
